The First Time Age Group Winner Feeling:

Kami Banks at Ironman Boulder

We all know the feeling of setting a goal. We make a plan, we work the plan. More often than not the fruits of that discipline is a goal met. However, sometimes, there are a lot of outside forces that take away from the ultimate goal crushing experience.

This week, Coach Patrick virtually sits down with the inimitable Kami Banks. When Kami raced Ironman Maryland in 2018, she felt that her performance was so-so, in her eyes, not quite a goal achieved.

As a determined woman, she knew what she had to do — make another plan. She found Endurance Nation looking to grow her cycle strength without sacrificing her run speed. And as Endurance Nation always says

“there is no such thing as a good bike followed by a poor run”

Spoiler alert… Kami CRUSHED IT!

Inside Endurance Nation she focused, worked hard, soaking up all the team knowledge and came out on top — with a first place age group win and Kona Qualifying spot at Ironman Boulder 2019. Tune in to learn how it all went down and what the key aspects were.

Key Talking Points include:

  • The importance of a Race Plan
  • Home course advantage
  • Power of running with a Stryd Run Powermeter
  • What pacing a smart (fast) race “feels” like
  • Value of nutrition planning
