Meet The Team: 2012 Ironman Racine

It’s going to be hot.  It’s going to be humid.  It’s going to be crazy.
But TeamEN members have the tools to make it look very, very cool!

After months of training, race rehearsals, and using our in-house proprietary Heat Pace Calculator, our teammates have their double-top-secret race ninja tool kit and are ready to rock it at Racine!  Meet a few of our folks below.

Matt Aaronson

Hi, I’m Matt Aaronson. I’m in the M3539 age group and a management consultant with a really expansive Garmin map collection given all the traveling I do. I am married with two young daughters who cause me to run fast in races since I know they’re a handful for my wife if it takes a long time until the finish!! I started doing triathlon 2 years ago and last year with the help of Endurance Nation I stepped up to the half-ironman distance at Racine 2011. Unlike last year, Racine 2012 isn’t my “A” race…that was last month at 70.3® Kansas. Racine is a “B” race for me where I will experiment with some new execution ideas. But despite training through I would like to set a PB if I can… last year it was 96 degrees with 106 heat index so I’m hoping that better conditions this time will yield a faster run. I really like the double out-and-back run at Racine and hopefully I’ll see lots of EN teammates on the course.

Melanie Neumann

Im a thirty-something attorney and consultant who would rather be swimming, biking and running than doing just about anything else.  This is my second race at Ironman® Racine 70.3. Last year the temp peaked at 100 so I thinking the high 80’s will feel great as compared! My A race is Florida so I am using this as a race rehearsal for Florida. Looking forward to cheering on my fellow EN teammates during the race!

Joe Matchette

Both my wife (not yet a member) and I are racing.  We currently live in Warner Robins, GA with two daughters (12 and 7) and a son (10).  We are a triathlon family — even the kids have all done a couple ofraces.  We became a tri-family when Gen started it all in the Spring of 2007.  Both my wife and I are racing at Racine this year.  She did it back in 2010 not knowing she had breast cancer at the time.  While she has done a number of sprints during and since all of her treatment, this is her first HIM since her treatment was complete.  Please check out her blog:  Sand In My Boobs at http://genmatchette.blogspot.com/
