Niels Heemskerk nabbed a PR at the Chicago Triathlon 2012, finishing with a time of 2:59:54. Niels said, “Work does work, improved the swim by 6 minutes, bike by 9 minutes, had some problems (all season) with my right leg so I was pleased with the slow run.”
Craig Heigerick, Terry Knotts, Ian Coleman, and Jim Ebert joined Coach Patrick in Louisville for a big showing by Team EN. For Craig and Ian, it was their first Ironman. We’re glad they checked in.
Read Coach Patrick’s blog entry about Louisville here.
Terry said, “Thanks to Rich and Patrick for spot on advice and trainiing program. You guys have it nailed and I had no surprises on the course. Followed hydration, pacing, and heat management advice and cruised through the whole day. Got to mile 18 and realized I was ok except for blisters hurting on feet. Was able to run the whole marathon only walking the aid stations. Pre EN I have never been able to run all the way on a half distance. You guys really know what we need to know. Many thanks.”
Ian’s first Ironman® was smooth sailing. “How to sum it all up? So grateful to Coaches Patrick and Rich for their help and support. Of course what makes EN so special is the great support, encouragement and indeed the coaching from your fellow team members. To negative split my first marathon was such a thrill. As Ken Smith and I discussed while waiting in the swim line prior to the start, we would never have been able to do this without EN. Many, many thanks to all of you. What a great team!” He gives a good account of his pre-race and race day experiences here.
