Meet The Team: 2012 Ironman Mooseman

TeamEN members are on their way to rock the Mooseman course this weekend!  Considered the most scenic 70.3® event in New England, the swim utilizes the fresh waters of Newfound Lake and a picturesque bike course includes rolling hills, views of sprawling farmland and the Newfound Lake shoreline. The run takes athletes by the majestic Granite Ledges and over rolling hills.

With their “One Thing” and race execution tool kit in their tri-top back pockets, TeamEN is going to rock this course!  Say hello to them as they pass you along the way!

Dottie Catlin

My name is Dottie Catlin, 38, from Dedham, Massachusetts. Married with three kids, ages 6, 4 & 1. I do triathlon to keep me sane after full-time work and parenting! I really do love it. Had a nice season last year with Quassy, Amica & Timberman HIMs, and ended with IMFL, my first. I’ll never forget the experience. Ever. It’s definitely on my list of life highlights. So far this year completed Boston & Cox marathons, and am now entering tri season. Looking forward to Mooseman this weekend, and will try for a PR, even though it’s a tougher course. Let’s see what OS gave me this year! Looking forward to IMLP, Pumpkinman HIM & Arizona to finish this season off. Looking forward to meeting everyone in NH. I’ll be wearing my EN tri top. I love high fives along the run course and “Go ENs!” on the bike course and in transition. Go team! I like to be this happy (in picture) after every race and training session I do:)

Stan Skolfield

My name is Stan Skolfield, 41, married with 2 boys 8 & 4, and I live in Gorham, Maine.  I am an active outdoorsman and needed something to do after giving up martial arts.   Last year was my first year competing and after doing a couple of sprints and an olympic distance I set my sights on trying to go a little longer this season.  Mooseman will be my first go around with an HIM.  As a brand new member to EN, I’ll be trying to incorporate the 4 keys into my race on Sunday.  Looking forward to seeing how it goes.

Steve West

I am 54 and work as a computer geek doing mapping and analysis on 835K acres of family owned timberland here in Maine.  My wife Carole is taking care of her mother who has been diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer while I swim-bike-run thru New Hampshire this weekend.  Of the two of us, she clearly has the more difficult task.

Training this year has been consistently sporadic due to life’s way of saying “Oh, by the way…”  But despite my marginal fitness, I still plan to do what Tim Cronk is calling the ‘Bull Moose’, meaning the double race weekend.  Should be interesting to say the least.  Limping and crawling are legit options – quitting is not.

Kevin Walter

I hail from Rochester, NY and am 43 yo, ten year triathlon vet racing my 4th season with EN. I am trying to make the leap from a long time participant to a bona fide varsity contender this year. Coming into the race lighter, faster, and stronger than I have ever been and ready to crush it.
