Amy Ferguson ran the Seaside Half Marathon and earned a new PR with a finishing time of 2:10.
Ben Jones ran in the Rock ‘n’ Roll USA race to a 1:34:38 finish and new PR! He said “First half-marathon outside of a 70.3. Great way to cap off the out-season. Took my vdot from 45 to 48 in 20 weeks. Thanks R&P!”
Mike Joyner (photo at left) competed in the Dallas Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and set a new PR of 2:03:34, better by 11 minutes and 48 seconds. He commented “8 weeks of OS training and I ran my fastest half marathon in 15 years, crushing a 4 week earlier half marathon time by nearly 12 minutes. The training plan has me training smarter with better results. Even though I am dropping weight, I am logging more quality miles than I would ever thought to do before trying the EN way of training, and have made big gains without injury or nagging pains.”
Arthur Westphal celebrated St. Patty’s Day with the Shamrock Shuffle, an 8k race and finished in 38:10. He said “This was my first 8k race. There were 37,000 runners. I came in 9th in my age group 60-64 M, out of 242. The Out Season Plan really helped me get faster, with less volume. My vdot went from 39 to 41. The plan that coach Patrick put together for me has been paying off. Also, I have gone from 157lb to 150lb. This has helped tremendously.”
Sebastian Kouladjian competed in the IM California 70.3® and bested his PR by 53 minutes with a finish time of 5:50.
Don Parks also raced at the California 70.3® and crossed the finish line in 6:34. He said “Experienced lower back (sciatic) pain during the run. Had to stop each mile to stretch out. Possibly due to not training much on my tri bike yet this year and aero position. Felt very comfortable on the bike, though, and had a course PR by 11minutes on the bike portion.”
Robert Sabo ran the April Fool’s Half Marathon (hope no pranks were involved!) and completed the race in 1:22:17, a new PR by 2 minutes and 13 seconds. He said “Mental focus did not drift. Miles 7-10 usually where i lose the concentration to stay on pace. Negative split. Did not expect any type of PR let alone over 2 minutes.”
