Jeff Gerardi (M 45-49)

Originally from New York, now live in San Diego with my wife and 3 children.

Tahoe was my first full IM last year, did it in just 15 hours. Want to beat that time and get in under 14 hours.

This is my second season inside the fantastic sport of triathlon and my FIRST Ironman. I’ve raced two 70.3 races and 5 Olympic distance races and have enjoyed every second of each race. I only wish I had discovered the sport ten years ago!

My passions outside of triathlon are golf, reading, coaching hockey. My hockey background didn’t give me any advantage in any of the the three disciplines, but it did teach me about working hard.

Training in Duluth, MN also gives me zero advantage come race day, but Lake Superior is always easy on the eyes. Looking forward to race day. Also, I want to meet people from the team to find more ways to maximize my EN membership.

I am totally new to the sport.

I started running in 2008. Since then, I have completed 14 international marathons (including Berlin, Paris, Mexico City, Chicago. CIM, Boston..) and 3 ultramarathons. In 2014 I did Boston and ran an 80K in Mont Blanc (France) in the Skyrunning World Championship. My marathon PR is 3:14 in Berlin 2013.

In March I decided to do my first Ironman while skiing with some friends in Tahoe, knowing that I would only have 10 weeks training after my 80K in Mont Blanc and no previous triathlon experience. I used to swim when I was a kid and never done more than 50miles on the bike. So the IM is a super huge challenge for me.

Few weeks ago I did my first triathlon, the Donner Half (70.3) which was an amazing experience.

My experience with EN has been fantastic. My initial goal was to finish my first IM. Today, I think I could be more optimistic and I hope to complete IMLT in less 12 hrs 30 min. That would be great for me.

On the personal level, I have a business consulting firm Empowernomics.com with clients in the US, Mexico and Europe. I live in Lake Tahoe with my wife. I have 2 sons (25 and 23).
