Today was the first big day of our 2008 Placid camp. With 14 campers in place, we headed down to the swim start to cover swim strategy, overall race week prep and outline what T1 looks like (with some imagination required). After the admin time, we got everyone together for one last picture (so we can identify the bodies later!) and rolled out for our Tour of the LP Course.

I was sporting full Endurance Nation signage (until it blew off on the descent, never to be found); making sure everyone knew who we were!

Of course, conditions being what they usually are up here in late Spring, I am not sure anyone could actually SEE that sign on the car…much less our campers! The descent was particularly foggy and wet, making the first trip of the cmap a little sketchy.

Once we dropped down into Keene, however, things opened up. The group was really flying along the back section of the course. The fun factor was crazy high here, as you can see with Rex (fourth from right) sporting a funny face. But the hills were looming!

Here is the top of Wilmington Notch, right after the climb by Whiteface…the site of many a cracked athlete! By far this is the worst part of the climb back into town.
The majority of folks did 56 with a run; three campers got in 112…now it’s time to start thinking about Day Two: Two Loops For All!!!
